Anchorage Port Commission has nine members appointed by the Mayor of Anchorage and confirmed by the Anchorage Assembly. Anchorage Municipal Code 11.50.030(B) says “the port commission shall regulate the operation of terminal and transportation facilities at the port by promulgating a terminal tariff containing rates, charges, rules and regulations applicable at the port and subject to the approval of the assembly and the Federal Maritime Commission.”
The Port Commission:
Anchorage Port Commission meetings are held in Don Young Port of Alaska’s administrative office at 1871 Anchorage Port Road. Port Commission meetings are open to the public and can be attended in person or virtually. Meeting agendas and information packets are available to download prior to meetings. Don Young Port of Alaska is a secure facility that follows U.S. Department of Homeland Security protocol. All visitors (including meeting participants) must show a government-issued photo ID at the port security gate. Firearms, ammunition, fireworks, and other explosive devices are prohibited inside of the port security perimeter. All vehicles are subject to random security screening.
